The Management of Social Services by the Local Administrative Organizations in the Eastern Part of Thailand

Abstract

This research work uses the disciplines of documentary research and survey research on the samples in order to explore the types of social services provided to local people by the Local Administrative Organizations (LAOs), to explore the LAOs administrators’ opinions towards the factors that influence the social services under their responsibilities, to learn about LAOs administrators’ ways to manage the social services under their responsibilities, to explore LAOs administrators ‘opinions towards the problems and obstacles to the management of the social services under their responsibilities, to survey on people’s satisfaction towards the social services provided by LAOs, and to analyze the LAOs administrators’ ideas about the management of the social services. The results of this research show that the type of services most provided to local people by the studied LAOs is the life development for the elder, the factor that the administrators of the studied LAOs believe to have greatest effects on their management of social services provided by the LAOs under their responsibilities is the need and opinion of local people, the regime that the studied samples most use is to base their operations on the satisfaction and needs of local people who receive/use the services, the problem that most of the studied LAOs administrators consider that their LAOs most face with is the lacking or insufficiency of budgets, the studied samples have moderate satisfaction towards the services provided by the studied LAOs, and most of the studied administrators of LAOs agree with the social democratic concept.
