บทคัดย่อ
อาเธอร์ ไคล์นแมน เสนอแนวคิดการดูแลเป็นประสบการณ์ศีลธรรม หลังผ่านประสบการณ์การดูแลอย่างเอาใจใส่ภรรยาที่ป่วยโรคอัลไซเมอร์หลายปีจนกระทั่งภรรยาเสียชีวิต ไคล์นแมนเชื่อว่าประสบการณ์การดูแลอย่างเอาใจใส่ของเจ้าหน้าที่ต่อผู้ป่วยในทำนองเดียวกันนั้น จะช่วยปลดปล่อยเจ้าหน้าที่เป็นอิสระจากมุมมองเชิงเทคนิคของความเป็นวิชาชีพอันคับแคบ ซึ่งได้รับอิทธิพลจากระบบการเรียนการสอน นอกจากนี้ ความเปลี่ยนแปลงเชิงโครงสร้างของระบบสุขภาพยุคปัจจุบัน เช่น บริการสุขภาพที่กลายเป็นธุรกิจเน้นผลกำไรขาดทุน และการแพทย์เชิงพาณิชย์ที่กำลังส่งเสริมทัศนคติของเจ้าหน้าที่ต่อผู้ป่วยในฐานะลูกค้า และระบบราชการที่เน้นเอกสารรายงานและตัวชี้วัดคุณภาพจำนวนมากกำลังลดทอนศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นมนุษย์ของผู้ปฏิบัติงานด้านการดูแลสุขภาพ การดูแลอย่างเอาใจใส่เป็นเครื่องมือชักนำเจ้าหน้าที่สู่ประสบการณ์ศีลธรรม มักจะส่งเสริมการเติบโตสู่ความเป็นมนุษย์ที่สมบูรณ์ของเจ้าหน้าที่ และนำคุณค่าความหมายของงานการดูแลกลับมามีบทบาทในพื้นที่ของระบบสุขภาพ
