GOOD GOVERNANCE: LESSON LEARNED FROM THUNGTAMSAO COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT

Abstract

This qualitative research aims to study the good governance and guidelines for development of good governance of the Thungtamsao community organization which uses qualitative methods of observation, interview, group discussion and exchange and learning forums, as the field data collection tools. Informants in the research are 4 community organization leaders, 5 community leaders, 30 villagers, 5 local government officials, and 5 academics. The study found that the Thungtamsao community organization: Masjid Darulamine, Agricultural Housewives of Rak Ton Community Enterprise Group, Ban Wangpha Community Financial Institution, and Thungtamsao Municipality is a mechanism of development steering for such religious promulgating, vocational promoting, financial operations, and governance. Although the organization has good governance with also some obstacles, however, there still steers the development activity, diversity and complexity, including of the interaction with other organizations, both internal and external communities, based on the accepted mutual benefits. Therefore, the organization is needed development which begins from human, financial discipline creating, faith led-living, and public consciousness comes first. This aforementioned will make the organization to reach good governance, community stronger and will sustainable development and better quality of life of people in the community.
