Electronic book usage behavior of healthcare workers in Panyananthaphikkhu Chonprathan medical center Srinakharinwirot University library

Abstract

This study adopted a cross-sectional descriptive design. The purposes of this research were to study the current state, problems and needs for E-book usage behavior of healthcare workers in Panyananthaphikkhu Chonprathan Medical Center, Srinakharinwirot University Library. Multi-stage random sampling was used. The questionnaires constructed by researchers were used for data collection. Data was collected from samples consisting of 72 samples who were 60 instructors/medical physicians/Internships/medical students and 12 dentists. Descriptive data were used frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. We used Pearson chi-square or chi-square test for independent or Fisher exact test for comparison categorical data with significance at 0.05 level (α = 0.05). The results showed that (72.22%) of the female participants. The work positions were instructors/medical physicians/Internships/medical students (83.33%) and dentists (16.67%). The sample was highest among the Department of Internal Medicine department (15.27%), followed by the Department of Pediatrics (12.50%), Department of Surgery (9.72%), and department of family medicine (8.33%), respectively. All dentists from the dental unit. E-book usage behavior at a high level ( = 55.49, S.D. = 8.30). The part of e-book behavior where the user’s need for an E-Book was at a strongly high level ( = 23.64, S.D. = 3.86) while the usage behavior and the user intention of an E-Book were at high level ( = 15.64, S.D. = 2.86). The Characteristics of using E-book was highest among the users was downloaded them to read later at a high level ( = 3.94, S.D. = 1.11), followed by 1) only online reading and no bookmark at a high level ( = 3.74, S.D. = 1.11) and 2) Print some or whole the document for reading at immediate level ( = 2.92, S.D. = 1.41), respectively.
