     บทสนทนาของแม่พลอยกับบุคคลต่างๆ แสดงให้เห็นว่าแม่พลอยเป็นบุคคลที่มีวาจาไพเราะ รู้จักพูดจาให้เกียรติผู้อื่นและมักสนทนาตามหลักการที่คิดถึงผู้อื่นเป็นหลักคือทำให้ผู้อื่นรู้สึกดีเสมอแม้ว่าแม่พลอยจะกล่าวแสดงความคิดเห็นที่ขัดแย้งก็ตาม แม่พลอยมักจะพูดน้อยกับบุคคลที่มีอาวุโสและมีสถานภาพทางสังคมสูงกว่าตน และใช้ภาษาท่าทางประกอบมากเพื่อแสดงให้เห็นว่ามีปฏิกิริยาโต้ตอบในการปฏิสัมพันธ์นั้นอย่างสำรวม แม่พลอยสนทนากับญาติผู้พี่ด้วยภาษาที่แสดงความสนิทสนมแต่ยังคงบ่งบอกสถานภาพว่าตนเป็นน้อง แม่พลอยแม้ไม่เห็นด้วยกับคุณเปรมผู้เป็นสามีในหลายเรื่องแต่แม่พลอยก็ไม่เคยใช้คำพูดที่แสดงความขัดแย้งหรือรุนแรงอย่างโจ่งแจ้งเลย บทสนทนาของแม่พลอยกับผู้มีสถานภาพต่ำกว่าหรือมีวัยน้อยกว่ายังคงปรากฏว่าแม่พลอยได้ให้เกียรติและสนทนาในลักษณะที่คำนึงถึงความรู้สึกของคนฟังอยู่เสมอ แม่พลอยจึงเป็นผู้ที่มี ปฏิวาทะตามหลักการสนทนาอันแสดงถึงความสุภาพและมีมารยาทตามธรรมเนียมสังคม อีกทั้งแม่พลอยยังเป็นผู้ที่ใช้ภาษาในการสื่อสารอย่างสละสลวย มีมนุษยสัมพันธ์เหมาะสมกับกาละ เทศะ สถานภาพและวัยของบุคคล

Abstract

      Dialogues between Mae Phloy and others indicate that she is well-spoken: she speaks in a way that respects others and makes them feel good even when she contradicts their opinions. She spares her words with those more senior than she herself, using instead gestures to communicate her continued but reserved involvement in the dialogue. She talks to her elder relatives using intimate language that nevertheless conveys her status as a younger family member. Even when she disagrees with her husband, Khun Prem, she never expresses explicit or harsh disagreement. Dialogues between Mae Phloy with those of lower status or younger age still give us a sense of respect and care for the feelings of the listener. Her dialogues indicate she strictly follows the rules of conversation, politeness and social etiquette. She is a highly fluent user of language, has good social skills and takes the occasion into consideration.
