Abstract

This study examined health literacy and behaviors of older adults, developed the Sung-Wai Suk-Kai Suk-Jai media set with community participation, and evaluated its effectiveness under the Kemmis and McTaggart framework. A survey of 400 older adults before the intervention showed that their health literacy was at a moderate level (  = 54.61), while their health behaviors were at a very good level (  = 33.08), with 139 participants (34.75%) practicing all eight aspects of desirable health behaviors. The developed media set included a music video, voice broadcasting, radio spots, poem posters, and a calendar, covering all eight desirable health behaviors and using the Northern Thai language. After a three-month pilot, both health
literacy and desirable health behaviors significantly improved (p < .05), and participants reported high satisfaction. These findings emphasize the critical role of community participation in developing context-specific health promotion media for older adults.
