Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to 1) develop a 3D simulation game, “Home Alone,” as a tool for enhancing awareness of safety prevention guidelines for youths staying home alone, 2) evaluate players’ perception after playing the “Home Alone” game, and 3) assess players’ satisfaction after gameplay. The sample group consisted of 88 upper secondary school students from Assumption College Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The research instruments included the developed game, a game quality evaluation form, a post-game perception assessment, and a post-game satisfaction assessment. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The results revealed that 1) the developed game demonstrated a very high level of quality, with a mean score of 4.71; 2) the participants’ perception after playing the game was at the highest level, accounting for 86.14%; and 3) the participants’ satisfaction after playing the game was at a high level, with a mean score of 4.33. The findings indicate that the 3D simulation game “Home Alone”, applying the Butterfly Effect concept can enhance youths’ perception and satisfaction and can be used as an instructional medium to promote knowledge of safety guidelines for staying at home alone.
