DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN ENTREPRENEUR CAREER SKILLS OF PRISONERS OF THE LAMPANG CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION FOR DRUG ADDICTS

Abstract

       This research aimed to develop prisoners to have modern entrepreneurship skill by enhancing entrepreneurial ability and modern business creativity which could be applied to career after release and to create a new form of training for occupational knowledge for prisoners by means of a qualitative and operational integrated research methodology with professional practice.The sample group was 100 prisoners in the Lampang Correctional Institution. Methods for collecting data included in-depth interviews, observations, and learning outcome measurements.The data collection tools were interview guide, obser b vation guide and learning outcome assessment form. The results showed that prisoners underwent learning process, had self-improvement initiative, had desired career and received income as dividends from selling products. The training period was sufficient starting from vocational training until earning.  The prisoners had freedom to choose their careers. Correction officers changed from commanding supervisors to process supervisors.Prisoners turned into learners. And the Lampang Correctional Institution was transformed into a learning place for nurturing wrongdoers to become good people in society.  The results obtained from research that could be seen as tangibility was money or income from occupational operations. Besides proficiency or skill in career was intangible success which built pride and self-esteem for prisoners.
