Improving the Quality of Life of Model Community According to Buddhist Principles of the Faikaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phuphiang District, Nan Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) Study the quality of life of the prototype community of Fai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization. 2) Study the relationship between the principle of Ditthadhammikatthaprayot and the quality of life of the prototype community of Fai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization. 3) Present the development of the quality of life of the prototype community according to the principle of Ditthadhammikatthaprayot of Fai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phu Phiang District, Nan Province. The research was a mixed-methods study consisting of quantitative research with a sample group of 385 people using a questionnaire and qualitative research with in-depth interviews with 10 key informants using an interview form and descriptive content analysis.

         Findings were as follows

         1) The overall quality of life of the prototype community of the Fai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Phu Phiang District, Nan Province is at a high level.

         2) The relationship between the principle of the Dhamma-utility and the quality of life of the prototype community of the Fai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization is positively related at a relatively low level, with statistical significance at the 0.01 level.

         3) Development of the quality of life of the prototype community according to the principle of the Dhamma-utility of the Fai Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization to support the sufficiency economy philosophy in the community 1) Uthansampada, complete with diligence and hard work to create work force 2) Arakkhasampada, complete with preservation, knowing how to keep the assets and work that one has done with diligence, perseverance, honesty and integrity 3) Kalyanamitta, complete with good friends, striving to seek knowledge and joining groups to create a self-reliant community 4) Samchittha, complete with making a living according to the financial means one has, knowing how to determine income and expenses to live in accordance with income.
