The Creative Based Learning (CBL) on Ionic Bond to Promote Scientific Modeling Ability and Creative Problem Solving Ability for Grade 10 Students
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purposes of this research were: 1) to study the scientific modeling ability of Grade 10 students who were taught using Creative Based Learning and 2) to study and compare the creative problem-solving ability of Grade 10 students before and after learning through Creative Based Learning. The target group consisted of 18 grade 10 students enrolled in the first semester of the 2025 academic year at Mathayomthasaphon School. This study employed a one group pretest-posttest research design. The research instruments included: 1) six CBL lesson plans on Ionic Bonding, with a total instructional time of 12 hours 2) a scientific modeling ability test and 3) a creative problem-solving ability test. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, percentage. Hypothesis was tested by using t-test for dependent sample. The results revealed that: 1) students’ overall scientific modeling ability was at a fair to good level. The highest performance was found in model reconstruction and model selection, followed by model validation, model application, and model deployment, while model construction showed the lowest performance; and 2) students’ creative problem-solving ability after learning was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level. These findings indicate that Creative-Based Learning effectively enhances students’ scientific modeling ability and creative problem-solving ability, highlighting its value as an instructional approach for improving science education at the secondary level.
