EVOLUTION OF LAVATORY AND ITS EFFECTS ON CREATIVE DANCE

Abstract

This research aims to examine the Thai dance arts creation patterns from lavatory-using habits in urban Thai society. This research is conducted by using a quantitative research method,  a literature review of past to present use of lavatory, lavatory using habits in urban Thai society, and an open-question interview, together with 8 creative research elements as following: 1) acting role design, 2) actors audition, 3) Thai dance arts movement design, 4) voice design, 5) props design, 6) costume design, 7) setting and backdrop design, 8) lighting design, which present Thai dance arts creation in 6 acts including Act I: The Chamber of Past; how people in the past excreted in their daily lives, Act II: The Chamber of Luxury; how Thai elites used the lavatory, Act III: The Chamber of News; how messages were received and delivered to the outside of the lavatory, Act IV: The Chamber of Secrets: how the lavatory was used with misguided purposes, Act V: The Chamber of Release; how the lavatory was used to release all the sadness resulting from pressure and social problems, and Act VI: The Chamber of Urban Lives; how the lavatory is used by the urban Thai people to conduct activities in daily lives.
