THE GUIDELINES OF EMPOWERMENT MODEL FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEN IN CHACHOENGSAO PROVINCIAL

Abstract

     This research purposes are to study 1) supporting factors and obstacles, 2) guidelines and methods for empowerment of women, and 3) establishing policy recommendations, the mechanism of driving guidelines and empowerment methods for development, local communities for women in Chachoengsao. The key informant for this qualitative research were chosen purposively. The semi-structured interview form has been considered, data were collected through in-depth interviews and focus group. Typological Analysis, Comparative Analysis, Content Analysis are used in the data analysis. The research results showed the supporting factors that contained 1) strong and potential group leaders, 2) government and relevant agencies, 3) family support, 4) membership support, and 5) group unity strength. Obstructing factors consisted of 1) the lack of economic readiness, 2) problems within the family, 3) members’ time, 4) lack of participation from the younger generation, and 5) chances in seeking of benefits. The guidelines and methods for empowerment also consist of 1) the high leadership and potential, 2) support from various related agencies, 3) clear process within the group of women, 4) independent authority to members, 5) independent authority to members, 6) encouraging to educate their members, 7) women’s need of speaking skills, and 8) supporting occupations. In addition, recommendations can be seen in 1) develop a strategy development and empowerment of women in the community, 2) jointly encourage the government to set policies and serious drive mechanisms, 3) database development in promoting the use of digital media, and 4) a curriculum for the development of women’s groups.
