THE DEVELOPMENT OF INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL FOR ENHANCING DISTINCTIVE COMPETENCY IN NURSING STUDENT FOR COMMUNITY

This research objectives were to 1) investigate the enhancing distinctive competencies in nursing for community, 2) study development of an instructional model that promotes the enhancement of distinctive competence of nursing for community, and 3) study instructional model effectiveness. The research was divided into 3 phases including 1) analysis and synthesis of distinctive competencies in nursing for community, 2) development of an instructional model, and 3) trial and study the results of instructional model by using experimental plan as the One-Group Pre-Posttest Design. Data were collected by purposive sampling from 124 fourth year students of Boromarajonani College of Nursing Khon Kaen Thailand. The tools employed in the research were 1) learning management plan, 2) performance evaluation form, 3) knowledge evaluation form. Data were analyzed using means, standard deviation, t-test statistics, and content analysis.
Results show that 1) Distinctive competencies in nursing for community contains 4 components which are Smart nurse in community health management, Health Innovator, Multi-cultural Care, and Change Agent in Community Health, 2) The developed teaching and learning model contain 4 components: principles, objectives, instructional procedures, and evaluation, 3) The results of using the instructional model were students gain a higher score for enhancing distinctive competencies in nursing for community than before studying, and knowledge achievement score after learning.
