Abstract

This research was aimed to compare 1) learning achievement in social studies of students on a learning unit, 2) learning achievement in social studies of students on a learning unit and the 70 percent criterion and 3) media literacy abilities of students on a learning unit using problem-based learning between before and after learning. The sample group for this research was 26 students of grade 10 students in the 2nd semester, academic year of 2019 at Chamnipittayakom school, Buriram Mattayomsuksa Education Service Area Office 32. The sample was selected using a cluster random sampling. The research instruments consisted of lesson plans with the appropriate value of 4.64, the achievement test with the IOC of 0.67-1.00 and the reliability of 0.88 and the media literacy ability test with the IOC of 0.67-1.00 and the reliability of 0.83. The percentage, mean, standard deviation of items and independent t-test were used to analyze the data.

The research findings showed that 1) learning achievement in social studies on a learning unit of students after using problem-based learning was significantly higher than before learning at 0.05 level, 2) after the lessons, learning achievement in social studies of students was significantly higher than 70% criterion at the 0.05 level, and 3) media literacy abilities of students was significantly higher than before learning at 0.05 level.
