The purposes of research were to 1) develop a training package on the topic of active learning management for secondary school teachers, 2) compare the knowledge of secondary school teachers on active learning management before and after training with the training package, and 3) evaluate the ability of secondary school teachers in writing a lesson plan by using active learning management. The participants in the study divided into 2 groups. The first group consisted of 10 experts: the first half in active learning management, and the other half in teaching secondary school, obtained by purposive sampling technique. These people participated in a focus group discussion. The second group comprised of 30 secondary school teachers in the first semester of the academic year 2018, selected by purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were 1) topics for a focus group discussion, 2) a training package, 3) a test of knowledge on active learning management, and 4) an evaluation form of a lesson plan. The statistics for data analysis were the mean, standard deviation, content analysis, and Wilcoxon test.
The findings showed that 1) the training package on active learning management had an efficiency of 80.86/81.11, 2) the secondary school teachers’ knowledge on active learning management after training by using the training package was higher than before training at the 0.05 level of significance, and 3) the secondary school teachers’ ability on writing a lesson plan was at a very appropriate level.
