The objective of this study was to compare the psychological well-being of university students before and after participating in a group counseling program and during the follow-up period. The samples were drawn by random sampling with a mean overall psychological well-being score form the 25th percentile and below. Eight volunteers were willing to participate as an experimental group. The experimental group enrolled in a group psychological counseling program based on Client-Centered Counseling (CCC) theory. The instruments used in this research were the questionnaire rating scale Psychological Well-Being test with reliability of 0.940 and the group counseling program sought to develop student psychological well-being and was based on CCC theory. The suitability of this program’s objectives, procedures, patterns, and techniques for group psychological counseling had a mean value of 4.584 and standard deviation of 0.554. The results of the study were as follows. Psychological well-being scores of students before participating in the group counseling and after participating in the group counseling were statistically significantly different at 0.05 level. Psychological well-being scores of students before participating in the group counseling and during the follow-up period were also statistically significantly different at 0.05 level. However, the psychological well-being scores of students after participating in the group counseling and during the follow-up period were not statistically significantly different. These results demonstrate that the initial group counseling session had a long-term beneficial effect on students’ psychological well-being. In summary, group psychological counseling based on Client-Centered theory allows students to develop sustainable psychological well-being.
