THE CAREER PATHS OF SUPPORTING STAFF IN AUTONOMOUS UNIVERSITY : CASE STUDY OF SUPPORTING STAFF IN THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION

Every individual having the opportunity to work with an organization aims to paths in their careers. However, not everyone achieves the expected career progression. This resulted in the research objectives were as follows: 1) to examine the factors influencing career paths, 2) to investigate the factors correlated with career paths, and 3) to study the management patterns of career paths. The research used a mixed-methods approach. Qualitative data were gathered through interviews and analytic induction from 17 individuals. Data were collected from 205 individuals through a questionnaire validated to 1.000 and tested for reliability to 0.800. Inferential statistics, such as correlation coefficient analysis, multiple regression analysis, and variable component analysis, were used to analyze the data. The findings are as follows: 1) Factors influencing career paths in supporting staff include factors promoting progression and organizational factors, which were statistically significant at a significance level of 0.05. 2) Factors correlated with career paths in supporting staff include career path design patterns, factors promoting progress, organizational and external factors. 3) The management style of career paths has undergone changes, leading to new working ways. This is expected to benefit future job performance. Supporting staff are required to develop themselves in areas such as mindset, soft skills, and digital transformation to adapt to these changes. These factors were positively correlated with career paths of support staff and were statistically significant at a significance level of 0.01. Personnel seeking career paths must rely on the “LEO factor” is desire longings, experiences, and opportunities.
