PARENTS' MOTIVATION FOR SENDING THEIR CHILDREN TO STUDY AT RATCHASEE ENGLISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN DONMUANG DISTRICT BANGKOK

Abstract
There were two objectives for this study : to investigate parents’ motivation in sending children to learn at Ratchasee English Language School where is located in Don Mueang District, Bangkok , and to compare parents’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in sending their children to learn at this school. Data were collected using a survey with 159 parents whose children were learning at this school. Frequency Distribution, Percentage, Means and Standard Deviation were used to analyze the data.
The findings were found that 1) the parents’ motivation in sending their children to learn at Ratchasee English Language School was at the highest level (µ = 4.51, s = 0.64). When the parents’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation were considered, it was found that the extrinsic motivation (µ = 4.60, s = 0.60) was higher than the intrinsic motivation (µ = 4.41, s = 0.68)., and 2) the findings also showed that the parents’ extrinsic motivation was higher than their intrinsic motivation
