The Confirmatory Factor Analysis of Digital Competencies of Second Year Vocational Students in Pathum Thani Province
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this research was to perform a confirmatory factor analysis of the digital competencies of second-year vocational students in Pathum Thani Province. The sample group consisted of 91 second-year students studying at the High Vocational Certificate level at Pathum Thani Technical College during the 2024 academic year. The development of the research instrument involved the following steps: Step 1: Defining digital competencies based on the conceptual framework of Schwartz et al. (2024); Step 2: Testing content validity by calculating the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC); Step 3: Testing reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient; Step 4: Conducting Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) using SPSS software; and Step 5: Conducting Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) using MPlus software. The data were collected using a 5-point rating scale digital competency assessment for vocational students, consisting of 4 indicators and a total of 10 items. The Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) was 0.97, and the reliability, calculated using Cronbach’s Alpha, was 0.95. Data analysis utilized descriptive statistics and confirmatory factor analysis. The research findings revealed that the developed digital competency model for vocational students is a unidimensional model, consistent with the theoretical framework of Schwartz et al. (2024). The goodness-of-fit indices of the digital competency model were largely consistent with empirical data, with (χ2) = 213.27, p = 0.00 df = 35CFI = 0.93, TLI = 0.92, SRMR = 0.03, and RMSEA = 0.11
