The development approach of Education, Status, and Role of the Thai Nun

Abstract

          This article is a part of doctor of Philosophy (Buddhist Studies) which study “An approach to develop education, status and role of the Thai nuns” aims to study the background of the Thai nuns in terms of education, status and role from the past to present, the factors that make nuns not improve in terms of status, education and role in the Thai society, and to suggest an approach to develop education, status and role in the future. Methodology use quantitative and qualitative research. The findings revealed that in terms of the approach to develop education, the government should register the nun organization in the women development plan of Department of Social Development and Human Security in order to consider promotion of higher education by granting scholarships both nationally and internationally so that the nuns will be quality personnel in Buddhism with potential and dignity. 2. In terms of the approach to develop the nun status, the president of the nun organization deemed that the government should certify the nun status and determine the codes of conduct for the nuns. 3. In terms of the approach to develop the role of the nuns, the nuns should be prepared for ASEAN such as improving language skills and computer skills by holding the training for the nuns so that they can apply the skills in the global scale Conference to highlight the role of the nuns.
