The Construction of Lampang’ History by Local Intellectuals: A Case Study of Sak Rattanachai

Abstract

This article employed a historical approach to study the construction of Lampang’ history by Sak Rattanachai, aiming to point out how the Lampang historiography of Sak Rattanachai was constructed under the influence or context of his era.  The study found that the multidimensional context of the era—including the expansion of archaeological research and conservation, the expansion of Localism, the decline of the Lampang elites and the decline of Lampang province—had affected his interpretation, understanding, and construction Lampang’s history in a highly complicated and dynamic way.
