A Study of the Meaning of the Word /rɔːb/ in Thai Language

This article aims to study the word /rɔːb/ in Thai language. The Data were collected from TNC: THAI NATIONAL CORPUS database (Third Edition) during 2008 - 2017. The objective of analyzing is to analyze the meaning and the relationship between the meanings of the word /rɔːb/ in Thai Language. The results showed that the word /rɔːb/ has 8 meanings: 1) convergence 2) convergence on time 3) period 4) 12 years 5) duration of activities 6) environment 7) all and 8) the classifier shows the repetition of certain occurrences or actions. In addition, the results showed that the different meanings were correlated. The meaning is expanded through 3 important processes as follows: 1) metaphor, 2) metonymy and 3) metaphtonymy.
