Thailand Education Future in the Context of Thailand 4.0 in Abhisit Vejjajiva’s Perspective
Abstract
In Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva’s perspective, a transition of Thailand from socio-economic and resource-based to knowledge, technology, and innovation-based country requires several improvements. The government needs to develop an education system to cope with the existence of basic problems including inequality of educational opportunities, absenteeism of the children whose parents suffer from poverty and contents of curricula which are irrelevant to the changing world. The solutions to the problems for the whole system are suggested. For pre-schooling, there should be child centers and kindergartens provided in the elementary schools across the country which focus on thinking skills. For a lower secondary school, there should be guidance on learner’s individual future aim, while the curriculum for a higher secondary school should be designed to meet learners’ individual need, emphasizing learning integration between science and social science programs. For vocational education, there should be an effort to encourage more students by collaborating with local business sectors as active partners getting involved in teaching activities and supporting machines and equipment. For a higher education, there should be an emphasis on the learners’ ability in response to the economic growth and leadership quality. Thus, the education reform needs to focus on a dynamic classroom management in response to the changing world, improving the evaluation system which is more related to education development but not creating burdens to teachers and making evaluation outputs beneficial to every level of education.Downloads
