Abstract

This research is creative research in art. The goals are: 1) to develop patterns of regional identity for local products in Phitsanulok Province; and 2) to apply innovative patterns and judge the viability of the product prototypes. The research methodology examines the regional identity and applies the creative process of visual arts. Visual elements are used to create patterns that are applied to the product prototypes. Experts then used an opinion questionnaire to assess the suitability. The results showed that the design and creation of new patterns are linked to the artistic elements. The knowledge of the origins of the pattern and the identity of the province consisted of the natural pattern of the beep flower from the beep tree, which is the provincial tree, the Fighting Cock which is an animal-inspired design, and the Houseboats on both sides of the Nan River which are man-made. As a result, there are five steps in the design process: analyze the identity of Phitsanulok province, determine the outlines and art compositions of the patterns; apply the patterns in the products, produce and evaluate prototypes and evaluate the results. Nine creative patterns emerged, and the outcomes of applying these patterns to community products were documented. There are two ways to benefit from this, including the trial production of nine product prototypes and the evaluation of expert opinions on the product prototypes. In overall, the product prototypes were found to be suitable for all the products at a high level, with the exception of the T-shirt products, which were found to be at the highest level. The patterns could also be applied in online platforms to be used in other products based on the interests and needs of those using online marketing.
