Abstract
State of Knowledge on Japanese Studies in Thailand: A Survey of Master’s Theses

This research aims to study the state of knowledge of Japanese Studies in Thai society by analyzing the data, master’s degree theses, gathered from three Japanese Studies schooling universities via Thai Library Integrated System (ThaiLIS). The purposes of the study is to (1) create the Japanese Studies theses database and (2) to indicate what issues about Japan that should be studied furthermore.
The result of research shows that the Japanese Studies related theses were found most in Thammasat University. Though topics of study is quite vary, they, however, related to current issues such as trading and investment in the meantime. Besides, the tendency of Japanese studies in the past 10 years also implies that the literature and Japanese linguistics related topics were very popular topics. This phenomenon suggests that we still lack of some significant fields of studies about Japan which should be more emphasized.
