An analyze of the used of figurative language to convey the Buddhist Teaching on the development of meditation by Praratchaphromyaan

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of figurative language to convey the Buddhist Teaching on the development of meditation by Praratchaphromyaan or Luang Phor Ruesii Ling Dam. The results showed that there have been five distinctive features of the figure of speech used by Luang Phor Ruesii Ling Dam in delivering the Buddhist teaching, namely Simile, Metaphor, Supposition, Allusion and Personification. It is believed that the use of these five types of figure of speech by Luang Phor Ruesii Ling Dam helps enhance the strategies in delivering the teaching of meditation.
