Development of Local Tour Guidebook to Promote Tourism in Pa Teung Sub-District Community, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province Using Knowledge of Language, Culture and Local Wisdom.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are 1) to develop the local tour guidebooks to promote Tourism in Pa Teung Sub-District Community, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province by using knowledge of local language, culture and wisdom 2) to develop language proficiency of the people in the community, and 3) to evaluate the satisfaction of the trainees toward the local tour guidebooks to promote Tourism in Pa Teung Sub-District Community, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province by using knowledge of local language, culture and wisdom.

The population of the research was divided into 3 groups: 1) the target group of 120 people, including community leaders, general people and youth in the area, who were selected to explore the requirements of the curriculum content, 2) the target group of 60 people including 20 community leaders and 40 general people who attended the language training using English and Chinese local guidebooks, 3) the target group of 60 youth in the area of Pa Teung Subdistrict Community, who attended the language training using English and Chinese local guidebooks. The participants had to be interested in the training and they had to attend more than 80 percent of training period, were the conditions to follow.

The overall result of the study revealed that trainees’ satisfaction on using English and Chinese local guide books of community leaders, general people and youth in the community of ​​Pa Tueng Subdistrict, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province is at the highest satisfaction level (x̄ = 4.28, S.D. = 0.64). When considering by item, it was found that the highest level of satisfaction was all 9 items. The high level of satisfaction was more than 1 item. The highest mean was 2 items including the knowledge transfer of the trainers (x̄ = 4.54, SD = 0.56) and the practical use of the manual. (x̄ = 4.43, SD = 0.75)
