Abstract
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the article was to present the teachings of folkways reflected from the sacred symbolic pattern on the Khmer silk. According to the Khmer weavers ’views, it is the Khmer weaver of Khmer ethnic group’s belief that is hidden with the symbol of the Naga pattern in Surin. It is the heritage that has been passed down since ancient times and became a cultural heritage of Surin Province. The article was summarized the literature review and the interview with the Khmer weaver by presenting the information about the background of Surin Province. The Khmer weaver has believed symbols of the Naga pattern and folk teachings as reflected from the belief of Naga pattern on silk cloth according to ethnic groups. The benefit of this article is to indicate the belief of a sacred symbolic pattern. It conveys the symbolic meaning that has been interpreted deeply. Moreover, it allows people to understand the insights of the teachings that reflected on systematic thinking, beliefs, and culture in the way of life of Khmer ethnic groups in Surin Province.
