Local Literature in Pak Phanang River Basin:Community Image During 2500-2560 B.E.

Abstract

         The research article aims to study community image during 2500 -2560 B.E. and to study the language use  to convey the community image of Pak Phanang river basin from Pleng Bok literature in Pak Phanang river basin during 2500 -2560 B.E.  It was the documentary-based research and the interview of the alive old male performers who lived in the comuunity of Pak Phanang river basin. The researcher used 200 songs of Pleng Bok written by the 9 old male performers. The research results showed that its community image in the political society was traditional and agricultural. There had been the convenient transportation. People were active in politics. The ecological system was in imbalance. In economic area, most people  were relatively poor and all benefits fell into the capitalists. People worked in various careers and the community economy was strong. ln addition, there were cultural products. People in Pak Phanang river basin were proud of local traditions and their language were combined between Thai southern dialect and the official Thai language.  People used their own words or phrases to call people, classify groups of people, respect people, for the satire, and show determined and joyful feelings. Words or phrases were also used for naming places. There were uses of combined words,  repeated words, antonym, and rhetorical question. There were 4 types of figures of speech namely simile, metaphor, symbol, and hyperbole which all conveyed the
