Family’s Factors and Psychological Characteristics Related to Local Political Participation of Women in Kampangsao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Nakhon Si Thammarat

Abstract

     The three objectives of this research are 1) to study the behavior of the local political participation of women in the Kampangsao subdistrict administrative organization, Nakhon Si Thammarat, 2) to study the family’s factors and the psychological characteristics of women in the Kampangsao subdistrict administrative organization, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and 3) to study the family’s factors and the psychological characteristics related to local political participation of women in the Kampangsao subdistrict administrative organization, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The sample group in this research was 409 in the Kampangsao subdistrict administrative organization area. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The statistics for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and the correlation coefficients (Pearson's Product-Moment Correlation).
     The results of the research found that 75.5% of the sample group were farmers, 48.17 percent of the family had an income of 10,001-15,000 baht. They used to be volunteers 26.6 percent. The local political participation behavior of women is at a moderate level (3.34). The most women’s view on the level of political participation was an average of 3.51. The minimum behavior was the establishment and group average of 3.12. Factors that were statistically significant related to local political participation behavior of women were parental precedent and positive attitudes towards political participation behavior at local level.
     The recommendations are to find a way to raise awareness in the establishment and integration of groups including creating a positive attitude toward greater political participation at the local.
