Public Participation in the Administration of Sao Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization Ron Phibun District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract

The        objectives of this research were to 1) study people’s participation in Local Administration, and 2) study guidelines for developing people's participation in the administration of Sao Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ron Phibun District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The research used mixed methods research. Survey research and questionnaire were used for quantitative research. The sample group consisted of people from 400 households who live in Saotong Subdistrict, Ronpiboon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. In-depth interview was used for qualitative research for interviewing 25 key informants using content Descriptive data analysis.

          The research showed that the level of people's participation in the administration of Sao Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ron Phibun District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province was at a moderate level in all aspects. They consisted of 1) joint thinking 2) joint decision-making 3) participation in operation 4) benefit sharing and 5) participation in the implementation. For guidelines in developing people's participation in the administration of Sao Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ronphiboon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province,   Subdistrict Administrative Organization must have public relations and increase channels for people to participate in concrete. by building confidence and giving people the opportunity to participate in a working group or a committee to hear opinions, information and make decision as well as practice. This must be done without prejudice or on conditions of conflict. Stakeholders can explain reasons. and suggestions.
