Anxiety and Preparation to Cope with COVID 19 Pandemic of People in Trang Province

Abstract

The objective of this article was to present the study results of the anxiety and preparation to cope with COVID 19 pandemic of people in Trang Province. This study was quantitative research. Data were collected by using the questionnaire to ask the sample group consisting of 400 houses in the area of Trang Province. A statistic used for data analysis was percentage. The research showed that:


          The anxiety of the members in the family in the current situation of COVID 19 pandemic in Trang Province: for the social and environmental aspect, there was the anxiety about going out to do social activities such as the funeral, ordination ceremony, wedding ceremony at 41.50%. For the economic aspect, there was the anxiety about not having income/lower income and more debts at 39.75%. For the information technology aspect, there was the anxiety about how to learn to use new instruments/technology at 40.75%. And for the educational aspect, there was the anxiety about being incapable of paying the tuition fees for the members of the family at 30.25%. The ways members of the family used to relieve anxiety of the COVID 19 pandemic situation were as follows: they mostly relieve the anxiety by listening to music at 66.00% and exercising at 42.75%. For asking for suggestions when the members of the family in Trang Province had the anxiety, it found that they mostly asked for suggestions at 7925% and persons they asked for were the members of their families/relatives at 71.75%. 


          The preparation to cope with the new wave of COVID 19 pandemic in Trang Province: it found that most of the people were well-prepared at 92.00%. The ways of preparation to cope with the new wave of COVID 19 pandemic in Trang Province were as follows: the preparation of protective instruments at 85.00%, making their bodies healthy at 81.25%, mental adjustment to be ready for all situations at 61.00% and getting a COVID 19 vaccine at 50.00%, respectively.


          Positive effects to the members of the family from the COVID 19 situation in Trang Province: it found that for the social and environmental aspects, 90.25% of the members of the family learned to share and take care of other people, for example: taking care of the elderly in the communities, sharing surgical masks to their neighbors. For the health aspect, 90% of the members of the family were more likely to take care of their health such as exercising, concerned about the cleanness of their bodies, things and places. For the economic aspect, 79.00% of the members of the family had different part-time jobs such as increasing the ways they earned their living by doing online business and online marketing, respectively.


          Suggestions to relieve the anxiety or to plan how to live in the situation of COVID 19 pandemic were as follows: planning of everyday living, planning of self-care and planning of careers and part-time jobs, respectively.
