Farmer’s demand for turmeric processing plant in Surat Thani Province

Abstract

     The purpose of this research aimed to study the status of turmeric products from farmers and study of farmer’s demand for factory turmeric processing plants in Surat Thani Province. The research follows a quantitative approach and employs a method of data collection through a survey and sampling from 161 turmeric farmers. The statistics analysis were frequency, percentage, mean standard deviation and logistic regression.


    The results showed that turmeric cultivated area is less than 5 rai, accounting for 45.34 percent of the total. The amount of turmeric production was 1,001-2,000 kg, accounting for 57.76 percent. The nature of product distribution through the integration accounted for 43.28 percent. The tendency to transform turmeric at a moderate level, 66.46%, and the objectives of farmers towards turmeric processing factories revealed that marital status, monthly income, directly correlate with the demand of turmeric processing factories, and cultivation area is significantly correlated with the demand of turmeric processing factories at the 0.05 significance level
