A Study of The Potential of Kuan Khan Lao Tourist Attraction in Namom District, Songkhla Province

Abstract
The purpose of the research was to analyze the level of community needs, the potential, and development guidelines for Kuan Khan Lao (Khan Lao Hill) tourist attraction.It was a mixed method study of research methods. 395 people from 6 villages was randomly selected as a sample. The instrument was a closed-ended questionnaire.The statistical analysis were the arithmetic mean, percentage, t-test, analysis of variance.The qualitative research used in-depth interviews with key informants and a group meeting of 15 participants which were selected by purposive sampling. The results of the study found that (1) there are the needs of the people are in descending order of greatest as follows: install a fence to protect the dangerous area, infrastructure development, convenient roads to tourist attractions, tourist behavior control, organize tourism activities and build skywalks.tourism activities organization, and skywalks building.The safety requirements were statistically different. It was classified by age, safety, tourism services and marketing as well as their income. (2) The potential for tourism is as follows: the strength is fog watching on the mountain, the weakness is lack of facilities, and the opportunities to develop natural and cultural tourism routes. In addition, there are also budget obstacles. (3) The Development guidelines include development planning and design of Kuan Khan Lao, tourism management practice focusing on attractiveness, follow-up and assessment of tourism potential, and development of natural and cultural tourism resources.
