The use of Local Identity of Nabon Community, Na Bon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province to Promote Community Tourism

Abstract

     The objectives of the research are 1) to study the identity of Na Bon Sub-district, Na Bon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province 2) to suggest and develop community tourism by using the local identity of Na Bon Sub-district, Na Bon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. It is a qualitative research. The research tools were interview forms for personnel related to tourism and focus groups. There were 33 samples. The researcher used the community participation process to carry out the research objectives to share knowledge and hear suggestions from people and stakeholders about tourism. The research revealed that 1) Chinese-Thai communities in Na Bon Sub-district, Na Bon District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province had outstanding identities in various aspects, which could be classified into 2 levels: personal identity level and the level of social identity, 2) Develop community tourism by using the local identity of Na Bon Sub-district which is unique in identity, tradition, culture, and food. It is interesting to create a tourism route to promote the lifestyle of Thai-Chinese people in the Na Bon community. To promote sustainable tourism,encourage government and private agencies, community entrepreneurs, and tourism stakeholders to develop new tourism models to attract tourists to the Nabon community and encourage people in the Nabon community to participate in conservation.
