Guidelines For Community Participation In School Administration Under The Secondary Educational Service Area Office Nakhon Si Thammarat

Abstract

     The purposes of this qualitative research were 1) to study the participation of the community in school administration under the Nakhon Si Thammarat Secondary Educational Service Area Office, and 2) to analyze guidelines for increasing community participation in school administration. The research data were collected through structured in-depth interviews and focus group discussions of 15 educational institution administrators using a specific selection method. The collected data were interpreted, analyzed, synthesized, and summarized the guidelines on community participation in school administration of Nakhon Si Thammarat Secondary Educational Service Area Office.
     The research results were: 1) The participation of the community in school administration under Nakhon Si Thammarat Secondary Educational Service Area Office in academic administration revealed that the school board was appointed to participate in developing the school curriculum and local curriculum of the school, and set the educational management goal with academic administration department. For budget management, the school was cooperated with the community and school board in contacting funding resources - public and private organizations. Similarly, they have determined how to mobilize resources, materials, and technology available for teaching and learning activities. In personnel management, the community and the community experts were invited to be lecturers. Moreover, the schools have been adopted as community learning resources. The community also participated in suggestions on how to develop the school staff. For general administrative management, the general administrative department with the school board cooperated in the school operation process and the school board also assisted the school in coordinating with organizations involved in building development. 2) The community participation guidelines for academic institution administration under the Nakhon Si Thammarat Secondary Educational Service Area Office were to build an understanding of the community's role in educational management and to develop relations between the school and the community.
