Sanpanom: The Local Wisdom of Ancient Khmer Related to Dimension between People, the Supernatural and the Environment, The Case of Phanomrung Village

Abstract
This article aims to present Sanpanom - the local wisdom of ancient Khmer related to people, superstition and environment. It identifies the importance of supernatural power of Sanpanom in the case of Phanomrung village. The villagers are farmers who need rain for farming, so they organize ritual for worshiping in order to have rainwater and abundant agricultural produce. Sanpanom is an ancient Khmer philosophy based on local wisdom, 1) the wisdom that links people with nature, 2) the wisdom that links people with people through community practices, 3) the wisdom that links people and the supernatural. This is the local wisdom based on shared beliefs of Khmer people that passed down since ancient time until nowadays in the communities in Phanomrung area.
