Abstract
บทบาทของเยาวชนในการเคลื่อนไหวเพื่อเปลี่ยนแปลงทางการเมือง เศรษฐกิจและสังคม เป็นประเด็นที่ได้รับความสนใจในระดับสากล จนกระทั่ง พจนานุกรมของ Oxford บัญญัติศัพท์คำว่า “youthquake” ซึ่งหมายความถึงบทบาทของเยาวชนในการกระทำหรือมีอิทธิพลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางวัฒนธรรม การเมืองและสังคมอย่างมีนัยยะสำคัญ ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น พจนานุกรมฉบับดังกล่าวยังยกให้คำว่า “youthquake” กลายเป็นคำแห่งปีใน ค.ศ. 2017 (พ.ศ. 2560) อีกด้วย
หนังสือเรื่อง Youthquake 2017: the Rise of Young Cosmopolitans in Britain เขียนโดย James Sloam และ Matt Henn เป็นหนึ่งในหนังสือของชุดโครงการ Palgrave Studies in Young People and Politics ทั้งนี้ตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 2018 จนถึงปัจจุบัน (พ.ศ. 2564) มีหนังสือที่ตีพิมพ์ภายใต้ชุดดังกล่าวแล้วจำนวน 8 เล่ม โดย James Sloam เป็นศาสตราจารย์ทางด้านรัฐศาสตร์ แห่ง Royal Holloway มหาวิทยาลัย London สหราชอาณาจักร (นอกจากนั้น เขายังเป็นบรรณาธิการของชุดโครงการ Palgrave Studies in Young People and Politics อีกด้วย) และ Matt Henn เป็นศาสตราจารย์ทางด้านสังคมศาสตร์ของมหาวิทยาลัย Nottingham Trent สหราชอาณาจักร ทั้งคู่มีความสนใจและเชี่ยวชาญในประเด็นการเลือกตั้ง
