Performance-Based Legitimatization of the Lao Government in the New Normal Era

Abstract
This research article aims to study the legitimization of the Lao government in the new normal era. The acquired data is collected by reviewing literature on the Lao government’s legitimization to analyze with the concept of legitimacy in socialist countries.
The research results show that the COVID-19 contagion jeopardizes Lao economy, such as an increasing number of poverty and unemployment rates of the country. Therefore, the Lao government legitimizes itself in three direction which are the national security comes first to tackle with the terrible enemy, austerity economic development, and leadership under the crisis.
