Takbai Incident and Uneven Conflict Transformation
บทความนี้มุ่งพิจารณากระบวนการแปลงเปลี่ยนความขัดแย้งรุนแรงที่มีความยืดเยื้อในสามจังหวัด ชายแดนภาคใต้ของไทยผ่านการพิจารณาเหตุการณ์การสลายการชุมนุมหน้าสถานีตำรวจภูธรอำเภอตากใบ จังหวัดนราธิวาส เมื่อวันที่ 25 ตุลาคม 2547 ในฐานะ “เหตุการณ์ที่มีผลในเชิงแปลงเปลี่ยน” บทความนี้มีข้อถกเถียงว่า เหตุการณ์ตากใบ มีลักษณะเป็นเหตุการณ์ที่มีผลในเชิงแปลงเปลี่ยน ในแง่ของการจุดประกายความสนใจความขัดแย้งยืดเยื้อในสามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้จากภายในและระหว่างประเทศ นำมาสู่การเปลี่ยนแปลงวิธีการในการแก้ไขความขัดแย้งรุนแรงของรัฐบาลในสามจังหวัดชายแดนภาคใต้ อย่างไรก็ดี หลักฐานที่ค้นพบแสดงให้เห็นว่ากระบวนการแปลงเปลี่ยนความขัดแย้งในกรณีนี้เกิดขึ้นอย่างชะงักงัน (uneven transformation)
