Self-Reliance, Health Empowerment, Health Literacy and Happiness of the Elderly at Tambon Thap Yai Chiang in Amphoe Phrom Phiram, Phitsanulok Province

Abstract
The purposes of the study were as the follows. First, it aimed to study level of self-reliance, health empowerment, health literacy and happiness of the elderly at Tambon Thap Yai Chiang in Amphoe Phrom Phiram, Phitsanulok Province. Secondly, it compared happiness of the elderly according to their personal factors. Thirdly, it investigated the correlation between self-reliance, health empowerment, health literacy, and happiness of the elderly. Samples were 226 elderly. Instruments were questionnaires. Results indicated that self-reliance was at high level while health empowerment, health literacy, and happiness were at moderate levels. Age, marital status, occupation, monthly salary, and type of family structure affected happiness, which was statistically significant at the 0.05 level. Moreover, self-reliance, health empowerment, and health literacy had positive correlation with happiness at the statistical significance level of 0.001.
