The Relationship Between Five-Factor Model of Personality, Goal-Setting, Goal Commitment and Service Behavior of Registered Nurses in a Government Hospital

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to study 1) the level of five-factor model of personality, goal-setting, goal commitment and service behavior of the registered nurse, 2) the relationship between five-factor model of personality, goal-setting, goal commitment and service behavior of the registered nurse and 3) the moderating role of goal commitment on the relationship between goal-setting and service behavior the registered nurse.The results found that 1) these registered nurses have moderate levels of openness to experience, high levels of conscientiousness, extraversion and agreeableness, low levels of neuroticism,and high levels of goal-setting, goal commitment and service behavior 2) all dimensions of five-factor model of personality correlateto service behavior 3) all dimensions of five-factor model of personality correlate to goal-setting 4) goal-setting correlate to service behavior and 5) goal commitment is not a moderator in the relationship between goal-setting and service behavior.
