Factors Affecting Happiness of a Secondary School’s Students in Bangkok Metropolis

Abstract

The objectives of this research are 1) to study the level of family functioning, personality, self-esteem and happiness of high school students of a school in Bangkok and 2) to examine the factors affecting happiness of those students. The samples used in this research are 291 high school students of a school in Bangkok. Data was collected by questionnaires. Statistical analysis consisted of percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results are 1) the family functioning and the self-esteem of students are at high level 2) the extraversion dimension, the openness to experience dimension, the agreeableness dimension and the conscientiousness dimension of the students are at high level, and neuroticism dimension is at moderate level 3) the happiness of students is rather at happy level. Moreover, the extraversion dimension, neuroticism dimension, self-esteem (virtue dimension), family functioning (problem solving dimension) and personal factors (sufficient expending with saving dimension) predict 46.0 percent of happiness of students at the level of .05 statistical significance.
