The Role of Local Resources in Agriculturist Household: A Case Ban Donhad, Udon Thani Province

Abstract

This article aims to study community context, local resources context, and the role of local resources in the way of living of agriculturist household, which is the quality research. Selecting study area by purposive sampling, where is Ban Donhad, Udon Thani Province.
Data were collected by review literature and related research, observation, and in-depth interview from key informants, such as monks, community leaders, liaisons and the representatives of agriculturist household. A total of 15 informants were used for content analysis, interpretation, connecting relationships, and present the results by descriptive analytics.
The results demonstrate that Ban Donhad was established as the village since 1921. Almost of the villagers earn the livings as Agriculturists from past to present, and having
faith in Buddhism combined ancestor ghost myths, the Holy Spirit, and the supernatural.
The significant local resources for the living of agriculturist household are Kok-nhongno,
and Huay Luang canal, which two of these affect agriculturist household in five aspects,
such as 1. culinary aspect 2. earning income 3. production input 4. creating harmony and
5. belief aspect. Thus, local resources for agriculturist household have the useful roles
for living, which they are not only tangible factors, but including beliefs and stratagems as
the culture for social coexistence and spending appropriate local resources. Therefore,
the local resources reinforce agriculturist household to have social and economic stability
in sufficiency level.
