Abstract

This research aims to 1) study the desirable characteristics of local leaders from the perspective of the people in the multicultural area of Tab Tao Subdistrict, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province, 2) examine the desirable leadership qualities of local leaders as perceived by the residents of the multicultural area of Tab Tao Subdistrict, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province, and 3) compare the desirable characteristics and leadership qualities of local leaders among different ethnic groups in the multicultural area of Tab Tao Subdistrict, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province. The research employs a quantitative approach, with a sample size of 390 individuals. Data analysis was conducted using percentage, mean, standard deviation, and F-test. The study's findings revealed that 1) the desirable characteristics of local leaders, as perceived by the residents in the multicultural area of Tab Tao Subdistrict, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province, are rated at a high level, 2) the desirable leadership qualities of local leaders, according to the residents in the multicultural area of Tab Tao Subdistrict, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province, are also rated at a high level, and 3) the comparison of desirable characteristics and leadership qualities among different ethnic groups in the multicultural area of Tab Tao Subdistrict, Thoeng District, Chiang Rai Province, shows significant differences among four pairs of ethnic groups: Hmong and Yao, Hmong and Native, Yao and Akha, and Akha and Native.
