Programs for Enhancing Thai Family Strengths

Abstract
The objectives of this qausi-experimental research was to study the effectiveness of training program. The constructed training program comprises seven activities for 7 days : 1) strong family 2) family relationship 3) family communication 4) family stress and management 5) family mental health and promotion 6) family conflict and management and 7) family roles and duties enhancing family strengths. The participants were 28 husbands and wives dwelling at Bueng Kor Hai subdistrict, Lumlookka district in Pathum Thani province, selected by purposive sampling. The data was collected by using Family Strength Questionnaire and analyzed by paired-t test statistics. Research findings indicated that after participation in the program husbands and wives had higher scores on overall family strengths than before training with the statistical significance at .001. When considered in each aspect it showed that husbands and wives participated in the program achieved higher scores on family’s strength in commitment, in challenge, in respect and trust and in coping stress and crisis management after training with the statistical significance at .001; but scores on family strengths in confidence and in control external stimulus before and after training were not different. However, training program constructed was effective and could be applied in enhancing family strengths.
