A Comparative Study of Motivational Factors for Study in Bachelor of Science Program in Health Promotion, Faculty of Physical Therapy, Srinakharinwirot University for Academic Calendar for Academic Year 2022 With Thai University Central Admission System

The purpose of this study was to examine the factors affecting motivation and to compare the motivations for choosing to study in the first year of a Bachelor of Science Health Promotion Program, Faculty of Physical Therapy, Srinakharinwirot University, Academic Year 2022 when selecting through the TCAS system on the basis of five factors: quality and reputation of the institution; environment of the institution; curriculum; occupations, and the economy and society. The sample group comprised first-year undergraduate students of the Bachelor of Science Health Promotion Program, Faculty of Physical Therapy, Srinakharinwirot University, numbering 55 people. The study tool was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. The results of the study revealed that the students' motivation for choosing to study was at a high level with an average score of 4.1±0.56. The quality and reputation of the institution had an average of 4.43±0.54 which is at a high level. Comparing the motivations for choosing to study when classified by gender, it was found that female and male students had no difference in motivation for choosing to study in all five aspects. Moreover, students who graduated from high school from government schools have the greater motivation for choosing to study in terms of the quality and reputation of the institution and the economic and social aspects in comparison to students who graduated from upper secondary school from private schools at the statistical significance level of 0.05.
