Development of Tracking and Monitoring Indicator Program of Panyananthaphikkhu Chonprathan Medical Center Srinakharinwirot University

Abstract

The monitoring, inspection and evaluation system is beneficial to the management of indicator data. This study employs a mixed-method research design with the objective of investigating user needs and problems and developing a monitoring, validating, and analytical program for hospital-level indicators. Qualitative data were collected through interviews, while quantitative data were obtained through a questionnaire administered to a purposively sampled group of 25 individuals responsible for data recording. Questionnaire was included 1) Baseline characteristics data and Program development assessment and 2) in-depth interview. Baseline characteristics were summarized using descriptive statistics and stratification of developed programs at per-and-posttest were compared using Paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results shown that the newly developed program, named "Performance Monitoring System for PCMC Indicator Online," effectively addressed user needs in terms of system log-in, data recording, editing, and modification of hospital-level indicator data. Additionally, the program demonstrated competence in presenting indicator results related to patient numbers, patient lists, and quarterly and annual data comparisons. The stratification at before and after program implementation was difference with significant level 0.05 (P<0.001), these programs useful for management of indicators and monitoring status of data submission. Moreover, these programs are reliability, simplified to user. The newly developed program is beneficial to the management, plan and adjust the indicators for national and international hospital quality assessment and standard.
