Abstract

This research arises from studying Buddhist activities under the people’s happy life development plan by the Sub-district Administrative Organizations (SAOs) in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. It analyzed the relations of promotion by applying activities in the Buddhist activities to happy life development plan via each SAO president in the province. The research found that people in the province faced with problems in several issues both personal and supplemental factors related to understanding of the Buddhist dharma principles and applied them to solve their problems. However, the SAO presidents there all had the basic knowledge on the people’s happy life development plan and Buddhist activities at the rate that was high enough to generate benefits in accordance with the plan with reasonable efficiency. In the analysis and testing of the hypothesis and correlation between applying the Buddhist activities in the people’s happy life development plan found no different correlation between the observed frequency and the expected frequency. It derives the Asymp. Sig = 0.000, which is less than the statistical significance at 0.05. It can be seen that there is acceptance of the hypothesis related to the Buddhist knowledge of the SAO presidents, who had information and attitude that are consistent and suitable. They all had the T value in negative and effects on the objective of applying the Buddhist activities into practice in the happy life plan were no different and in the same direction. In the test of effects of the Buddhist activities that the SAO presidents in Nakhon Si Thammarat brought into practice using the mean square bears the positive value show that they go in the same direction. It also found the shortcomings of the plan leading to improvement in this case are at the four kinds of qualities making by amicable association at the underlying issues of the community and social environment in the province. Thus, we should promote the practical activities in the happy life plan to resolve the shortcoming of the effects by using the Buddhist activities for amicable association into practice and to be in the same direction. The four qualities of amiable association are the dharma principles of peaceful habitation by giving meritorious and virtuous charities; friendly speech that creates aspirations; useful conduct for the shared society; and impartiality and proper behavior. These four qualities are the adhesion of the people in the society to coexist peacefully. In this case we have to promote the Buddhist activities by organizing offensive activities to generate their effects. So the SAO presidents brought into practice of the happy life plan is in the same direction using the peaceful coexistence principle.
