CREATE A MODEL FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PROMOTION OF MORALITY AND ETHICS AMONGST THE CHILDREN AND THE YOUTHS IN THE NORTHEASTERN REGION OF THAILAND

Abstract

The main objectives of this research were 1) to create a model for development and promotion of morality and ethics amongst the children and the youths in the Northeastern Region of Thailand, 2) to test the created model in terms of its effectivenessand reliability, and 3) to draw up a handbook for development and promotion of morality and ethics amongst those children and youths. The questionnaire was used to collect the data, the analysis of which was conducted by the computer program. The results of the research could be concluded as follows: 1. Based the Buddhist scripture and related documents and research works, the returned questionnaire and the interview of 19 qualified persons, both monks and laymen, the study found that the models for development and promotion of morality and ethics amongst the children and the youths in the Northeastern Region should consistof the five categories as follows: 1.1 The model for promotion of Buddhist study 1.2 Themodel for promotion of propagation of Buddhism 1.3 The model for promotion of practicing the Buddhist teachings 1.4 The model for promotion of public service and community development based on the Buddhist teachings, and 1.5 The model for promotion of Buddhism-related associations, organizations, foundations, institutions and offices. 2. The test of the created model in terms of its effectiveness and reliability was, in an overall, found to be at the “Much” level.
